STRONG BIDDING: This home in Estell Street, Maryville had five registered bidders and was eventually secured by a local family for $855,000.It was a quieter weekend for auctions last weekend with most of the city’s action seen around Newcastle’s harbour and foreshore with the Supercars in town.
But there was plenty of property action seen in Estell Street, Maryville and Wilton Street, Merewether.
McGrath Estate Agents’ Tammy Hawkins marketed 68 Estell Street with an auction guide of $770,000.
The renovated three-bedroom home on 304 square metres attracted five registered bidders and wassecured by a local family for $855,000.
Dalton Partners’ David Phelan described his auction at 2 Wilton Street as “unbelievable”.
The guide for the four-bedroom, “knockdown” home on around 455 square metres was set at $680,000.
There were 11 registered bidders for the property with only five active and bidding “sailed through to $750,000” before the property was sold for $870,000.
He also auctioned 6 Dent Street, Merewether which sold for $1.45 million.
